The Bulgarian international has constantly been linked with a move out of Old Trafford with reports suggesting that Sir Alex would be willing to take a loss on the player he gave Tottenham £30 million for two seasons ago.

Milan are rumoured to be preparing a bid which would involve Klaas-Jan Huntelaar going the other way after he has struggled to get first team football since joining Milan.

Rossoneri vice-president Galliani admitted the Premier League could be an option for Huntelaar in the future, he played down any imminent swoop for Berbatov.

"When Klaas was at Real Madrid, he had the chance to go to England, Germany or Italy, and he chose Milan," Galliani told the Italian media. "But England could be a future solution.

"I have read about our interest in Berbatov and I have nothing to add."
