Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen last night confessed he blew £400,000 in a five-month gambling spree.
The Icelandic hitman, on target in the 4-1 victory over Charlton yesterday, admitted he was lured to a casino four times a week by the temptation of the roulette and blackjack tables.
"I have seen for myself how dangerous this gambling thing can be," said former Bolton star Gudjohnsen.
This week he will finally pay off the last of his debts after being forced to cash in an investment policy early.
"I can easily see how young people can get sucked into gambling and I am happy to stand up as a warning to others not to get hooked."
Gudjohnsen would bet up to £2,000 on a single spin of the roulette wheel in long sessions at the casino after he suffered a knee injury last July.
"It started mainly out of boredom and killing time until it came to the point where I was in debt,"
