"Sure, we have lost Becks and Seba, but we have a stronger squad than we had last year because the manager has made five quality signings.
"The new lads are more important to the club than those who have left. They are the ones who will be going out to try to win the Premiership and the European Cup this season.
"The ones who have left can't help us any more and we are definitely better prepared this time because five have arrived and only two have gone.
"The new lads will need time to settle in, but there's still plenty of experience around to help them do that.
"The important thing is that we have signed quality players who are young and hungry for success and hopefully people like myself, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs can help to nurture them in the same way we were nurtured a few years ago.
"No one at United has been surprised by what happened over the summer because it's always been like a conveyor belt here - one or two get on at one end and one or two fall off at the other.
"Every season you just hope that you won't be one of those who falls off, but it will come to us all eventually."
