"In a season when the team rarely produced the thrilling displays we are used to, this guy has been a joy to watch," Best told United's magazine.
"Some of the things he does are just amazing, and he's learning that there are times when you have to lay the ball off or get a cross in quickly. Next season, I think we will see something special from Cristiano."
Alex Ferguson intends to allow the player time to develop his talent:
