Giggs Gives Some Perspective

On the departure of Ronaldo, Giggs told the times, "I think a lot more is made of it outside the club than on the inside, you get used to it at a big club like United. There are always going to be stars and great players retiring or leaving but what makes the club special is that, whoever leaves, we just move on and try to improve.

"With Ronaldo, obviously you realise that we no longer have a great player in our team. But then you think we've coped before when this sort of thing has happened. Since I came into the team, the likes of Bryan Robson, Mark Hughes, Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy have all left the club.

"That is what the manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] is so good at - reshaping and re-energising the team. Carlos and Cristiano were great players for us over the last couple of seasons but we move on. We don't dwell on it. As players, it's like ships passing in the night. You just get on with it."
