GIGGS INSISTS ON WINNING START

Speaking ahead of the new season Ryan Giggs realises another slow start will leave United trophyless yet again.

"We did not get off to the best of starts last season and it cost us," Giggs told MUTV.

"We must start well this season because we cannot be playing catch up to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool again."

He seems to think that despite the lack of transfer activity this summer it is injuries that will help keep pressure on the players.

"Around the time of the Carling Cup final last season, we had a big squad of players available and everything got a lot more competitive," he said.

"The manager was in the position of being able to bring new players in if others weren't pulling their weight and it showed in our results.

"We need to hope that is the case again this year because we must show the same sort of form throughout the whole season."

Meanwhile Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn't want to be playing for the lesser trophies this season:

"This is a massive season for us,"

"We won the Carling Cup last year but that is not enough for a club like us.

"It is three years since we won The Premiership and ending that run has to be our main target."
