Giggs more excited than ever

United were beaten in their Barclays Premier League opener at Everton on Monday and will be looking for better as they host Fulham on Saturday.

Great Britain's Olympic captain told the club's website, www.manutd.com: "Your first home game is the one that the fans are always excited about."

Giggs, 38, has won 12 league titles in 21 years, but his hunger is showing no signs of diminishing.

"I'm more excited than ever about the season. You appreciate and try to enjoy things a lot more as your career comes towards the end and I'm no different," he said. "I can't wait for it all to unfold."

United could give a home debut and a first start to new signing Robin van Persie, who came off the bench at Goodison Park, against Fulham.

Giggs is delighted to be teaming up with the prolific Dutchman, whose ?24million move from Arsenal is the headline transfer of the summer so far.

He said: "It sends out a big message and it's great when a player comes out and says he wants to come to the club as well.

"I'm biased but players should want to come to United because you're always guaranteed to be up there challenging for trophies, there's a great team spirit, top facilities and you get to play for a great manager.

"There are so many plus points."
