GIGGS SPEAKS

Speaking on MUTV, Ryan Giggs had his say about the new players and the Bolton match:

Speaking about Ronaldo he said:

"We've seen first-hand what he's capable of, a couple of weeks ago in Lisbon. We've seen it again in training and again today. He's a great prospect, and if he carries on like that then he'll be a great signing for us.

"I don't think a lot of the lads knew too much about him, obviously the manager and the staff did, but having seen him first-hand, there was a buzz about the place when we knew we got him. The fans gave him a great reception, and that gives you an extra yard and an extra buzz, and he responded to that.

"The manager, obviously, will look after him. The fans are bound to get excited, but it's a long career and even though he was brilliant today we've just got to look after him.

"He's got two good feet, he's unpredictable and defenders don't know what he's doing. I bet he's a nightmare to play against, so I'm glad he's on our side."

“I think when you sign players it does give you a lift, and we've signed a lot of quality this season. We've seen it in training and no doubt everyone's going to see it in games. There is a buzz about the place, and getting off to a start like this is even better.

"All the lads have fitted in. There's a good team spirit, which is always important, and the lads have just fitted in beautifully."

Looking back on Saturday’s match he said:

"I think in the first half
Bolton caused us a lot of problems and they're always capable of getting a goal as they have done in the past couple of seasons, so we knew that we had to step up a gear.

"I think we were a bit fortunate to go in at half time in the lead, like I said they caused us a lot of trouble and we didn't really get our game going until late in the second half.

"Obviously with Seba and Becks going I'm going to get a lot more chances this year. Hopefully I can just carry on like I did today. I used to just tell Becks where to put it and usually he did it. Now it's up to me, but it was nice to go in.

"I do enjoy playing up front, you get a lot more freedom and a lot more chances to score goals. Hopefully I can top 14 from last year."
