GLENDA BACKS RIO

Glenn Hoddle in the Super Soaraway Sun:

"The whole responsibility isn't just down to Rio. It is not
just on his shoulders. There are rules there but when the
drug testers are there to test people, the club have to make
sure he is seen and that's it.

"I can't understand how the testers have allowed this to
happen. When I look back to when players were tested at
Tottenham, Southampton and Chelsea, the name was given and
the test done.

"There was no way anything could have happened, so I don't
see why it went wrong with Rio. I don't envisage that the FA
can ban him for two years - they have to take some
responsibility themselves.

"There are some grey areas and I'm sure the FA, Manchester
United and Rio's advisers are looking into that. I feel
dreadfully sorry for him. I brought him into the England
camp when he was a young lad. He is a wonderful talent and a
great player."
