Gerard Houllier has insisted that he will remain as Liverpool manager for as long as his services are required following suggestions that he was about to quit Anfield and return to his native France to take charge of Monaco.

Houllier, who only last season underwent life-saving heart surgery, said: "Let's put the record straight - I am not in discussion with and will not be entering into talks with Monaco. Believe me, I'm here for the long haul.”
