Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has insisted he would pick Stewart Downing ahead of Ryan Giggs.

"At present I wouldn't change him with Ryan," said McClaren.

"Give me Downing and Giggs and I'd be very happy. Stewart's performances on the park are doing the talking.”

German outfit Werder Bremen are eyeing up a possible Christmas swoop for unsettled United midfielder Kleberson when the transfer window re-opens in January. With his chances of him retaining a regular place in the Brazil squad fading, the World Cup Winner is believed to be interested in moving abroad.
