HAALAND AND KEANO - NEW VERSION OF EVENTS

From The Sunday Times:

Part of the conditions of his punishment, Keane has been told to remove the controversial claim from a new edition due out next month.

Eamonn Dunphy, Keane’s ghostwriter, said the controversial paragraph has had words "omitted to suit the decision of the tribunal".

"Words have changed in the section about Haaland so now there is a semantic difference in the passage," Dunphy said. "It will be understood differently."

The amended quote for the new paperback edition was agreed by Keane’s representatives as part of the FA disciplinary process. Publisher Penguin has confirmed the change to the passage but will not reveal specific details about the editing.

Legal sources involved in the FA tribunal say Keane’s lawyers agreed to the changes. One of his advisers said: "Dunphy rewrote the paragraph. It had been agreed with the tribunal and all legal aspects of the new edition were looked over in detail." The edited version will be checked by the tribunal. The FA says it will examine the paperback after its release.

The new edition will have an extra 6,000-word chapter about other Keane controversies since the hardback came out. Dunphy added: "Roy and I were careful after what happened last time. The chapter concentrates on Manchester United and winning the Premiership. He explains how his injury affected his decision about returning to the Irish team."
