HARVERSON ON THE ATTACK

Paddy Harverson has launched the first open attack from the
Plc on our rumoured Irish suitors:

"I would ask our rank-and-file supporters this question.

"Should a takeover bid materialise from Messrs McManus and
Magnier, would you like your club under the control of two
Irish racehorse owners who know nothing about running a
football business or prefer it to remain in the hands of a
plc board with a track record in all fields which speaks for
itself?"

Paddy went on to defend the Plc’s recent record of spending

"Over the past three years the plc board have also provided
Sir Alex Ferguson with transfer funds in excess of £100m

"The plc board have also ensured that the players at Old
Trafford are the best paid of any in this country. Our wage
bill of £165 million is far and away the biggest of any club
in the Premiership.

"Despite that huge financial outlay on new players, on
salaries, on ground development and on facilities over the
past three years our ticket prices are still halfway down
the table when you see what other clubs are charging their
supporters."
