HEINZE BACK IN TRAINING

Heinze:

"I had a bet with Sir Alex about being fit for the World Cup finals and I intend to win it. I'm a very obstinate man and when I set my sights on something my commitment is total.

"It's been a black year for me but at least I can now look forward to playing again. There's no date set yet I hope to be getting some match action in April if the manager decides to give me the opportunity.

"Obviously this is a critical time for me. I need to win back a place in the United defence and show I've recovered fully.

"If I play a few Premiership matches I can then set my sights on challenging for a World Cup place.

"I was so disappointed in missing out on playing for United in the Carling Cup Final. But that setback made the World Cup finals even more important to me."

Quieroz:

"Gabi has begun his preparations on the pitch from the fitness point of view.

"We won't rush him and will follow his recovery progress week by week.

"He's not training with the other players just yet as he is following a special individual training programme.

"He's doing fantastically well and we still believe he can play before the end of the season.

World Cup chances?

"The most important thing in all this is the player and whether he is totally recovered and ready to play.

"The final decision to give him clearance should be made by us and the Argentine medical staff."
