Here is a snippet from an interview on MUTV, hardly revealing but he makes the right noises.

How does it feel to have signed for United?

"My first impression is that I am delighted to have signed for Manchester United. I hope that things turn out well not just for me but for the club as well."

South American players have found it notoriously difficult to settle in England. How do you think you will cope?

"It’s not something I am unduly worried about. Obviously I am going to try to settle in as quickly as possible. That will be a positive thing for me and the club. But the main thing is that I settle as quickly as I can."

Are you looking forward to helping United try and win the title back from Arsenal?

"Words cannot describe how keen I am to help win the title back. When you come to a club like Manchester United, you know the demands and the expectations are huge. And that makes your desire even higher."

You’re going to be playing alongside the likes of van Nistelrooy, Giggs, Scholes and Keane. How does it feel to know you’ll be playing with those players?

"To turn out with the players you have just mentioned is something I am very proud of. Let’s hope that brings out the best in my game, and also that I can participate in some way myself in taking Manchester United closer to the top."

What made you decide to join United?

"I think lots of different factors helped. The most important one is that it is a massive club. But, certainly lots of different factors helped."

What can United fans expect of you during your time here?

"It’s maybe not for me to say. All I can promise is that I will be doing my utmost for the team, trying my best and working hard. In doing that I will leave it up to the fans to make their own opinions of me."
