HE'S SO FINE

Mikael Silvestre is happy that he has finally proved he is a centre back. And as United have only conceded two goals in six games in the Premiership he's got every right to be.

'People probably consider me firstly now as a central defender,' Silvestre said.

'But with Quinton Fortune, John O'Shea and Phil Neville battling for the left-back position these days, if all three are injured and there's a problem, then I'll probably have to play there again.

'I'm probably fourth choice at left-back now which is the opposite to what happened when I came here.

'Then we had more central defenders than full-backs and as I could play both, I ended up as the left-back.

'I wouldn't say I have been fighting all my United career to become looked upon as a central defender. I never went to the boss in his office and asked to play there.

'I still have the same philosophy now four years on. When you play for Manchester United, you can't complain about which position you play in, but I have to say I'm pleased to be playing in the central role.'
