The United captain, currently recovering from hip surgery, was expected to be ruled out for around three months. Now specialists have revised that comeback date and Keane could be back in action in a month's time.

Keane now has a target of October 23, the Champions League trip to Olympiakos, to make his return to first team action.

Fergie said 'I can't tell you what stage of his recovery Roy is at because we have no previous experience of the problem.

'But he is looking fine, walking without any problem and is doing upper body work in the gym. I would hope that we would have him back in another month.'
