Fergie has obviously forgotten that to enter the Community Shield you must first win the league or the FA Cup. It appears that United have taken part in the season's curtain raiser that often that SAF must pencil it into his diary as a United fixture each year. While speaking about the pre-season he mused:

'That match will mean when we get back from America, I will be able to assess which players are more advanced in terms of fitness and those not ready for the tournament can have a game before the Community Shield.'

I wonder how that makes Millwall feel?
