Tim Howard has joined Manchester United in a £1.5m deal with American Major League Soccer side New York MetroStars.

The 24-year-old goalie, who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome, is all set to make his debut on United's tour of the States next month, having agreed terms with United chief executive Peter Kenyon.

The deal was concluded when MLS Commissioner Ivan Gazidis flew in for the Champions League final.

It is believed Howard, who will sign a four-year deal, will pick up around £14,000 a week.
