'I have five, right?' - Casemiro reveals desire to return to Champions League with Man Utd

Casemiro has admitted he wants to bring Champions League football back to Manchester United - not before joking about his own success in the competition.

The Red Devils swooped to sign the Brazilian from Real Madrid, who have enjoyed immense success in Europe's premier club competition over the past ten years.

Casemiro was a vital part of that eternal Blancos side, winning five Champions League titles with the most recent coming last season.

United are not in the competition due to their worst ever Premier League season last time out, and when questioned about their lack of Champions League football, the 30-year-old delivered a hilarious riposte.

"Oh, I have five [titles], right? But it's not because I have five that I don't want Manchester to win!" Casemiro quipped.

"The Champions League is the most important championship, everyone wants to win. I want to learn, United have always been very affectionate, from the first day, they made me feel comfortable. The coach was very attentive, charismatic from day one. They always showed interest. This is very important. The Champions League, of course, I want to win, if we don't play, I'll be sad. I want to be there, even for the greatness of the club. But that happens with work and dedication.

"But the club has always shown a lot of affection, as well as Real. The feeling of being in a big club and being able to play in a big league like the Premier League is very good and very important in that aspect."

United fans will hope to get their first glimpse of their new signing in Saturday's early kick off at Saturday, though after the victory over Liverpool manager Erik ten Hag may not alter his side.

Scott McTominay was impressive in central midfield and may be partnered again by Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, while Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho will likely feature out wide after both scoring on Monday night.
