I NEARLY SIGNED FOR CITY.

Ex United and now Watford striker Danny Webber.

“I was picked up by City when I was nine and they gave me the forms to take home but I kept losing them.”

“Then Nobby Stiles, who was running the youth team at United, heard about me and spoke to my dad. I signed for United soon after at the age of 10. Dad, who is a United fan, had taken me to Old Trafford as a kid so to join them was amazing.”

“I first came to Watford on loan when Gianluca Vialli was manager. Alex Ferguson said I needed a challenge, that Vialli was a great striker and he wanted me to come and work with him. But two years ago I got to the age when I needed to move on permanently. I had too many top players ahead of me at United.”

Webber added:
“Beating Liverpool and then facing United in the final would be a dream come true. It would be the next best thing to playing for United.”
