PA:

Former England captain Paul Ince could be about to take his first steps into management at Macclesfield.

The midfielder, 39 next Saturday, was at Moss Rose on Saturday to watched the Coca-Cola League Two club lose 3-2 to Bury.

Ince, who was recently released by Swindon because of difficulties commuting from his home in Chester, left before the end of the match apparently to avoid questions about his future.

The former Manchester United star is expected back at Macclesfield on Monday to continue negotiations.

Macclesfield caretaker boss Ian Brightwell said: "The board have kept me informed of proceedings and I know Paul Ince was watching from the stands. There were two or three other candidates here as well but I still want the job."
