Inter are considering a move for Manchester United's Anthony Martial as they prepare themselves for the imminent departure of Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku is set to undergo a medical with Chelsea on Monday ahead of sealing a £97.5m return to Stamford Bridge, leaving I Nerazzurri busy looking for a capable replacement.
Atalanta's Duvan Zapata and Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic are two names thought to be under consideration, but the Mirror note that Inter could look to repeat their Lukaku masterstroke by signing a struggling United striker - in the form of Martial.
Now 25, Martial managed just four Premier League goals in an injury disrupted 2020/21 campaign; a significant decline from the 17 he netted the previous season. That lack of form has led to speculation over his future, given the late season form of Edinson Cavani and the possibility of Mason Greenwood moving into a central striking role.
Inter's hope is that they can bring Martial to San Siro on loan, and United are tipped to agree to that as long as the Serie A champions commit to an obligation to buy next summer. The Sun add that United would demand to recoup almost every penny of the £50m they paid to sign Martial from Monaco back in 2015.
The two teams have a good working relationship, stemming from the deals to take Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young to Inter over the past few years. That relationship could help with any dialogue the two clubs may have, though it's important to note that Inter are financially crippled currently - hence why they are selling Lukaku to Chelsea having already allowed Achraf Hakimi to join PSG.
Lautaro Martinez is another player who's been strongly been linked with an Inter exit, but reports suggest that the Argentine won't be allowed to leave in addition to Lukaku. Indeed, he's alleged to have turned down a move to Tottenham.
Instead, Inter want to bring in two strikers to complement him; potentially Martial as an expensive long-term replacement and Roma's Edin Dzeko, who has already agreed personal terms over a move from Roma.
