Interim Man Utd Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Admits Hes Hoping to Get the Best Out of Paul Pogba

Manchester United's interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed he hopes to get the best out of Paul Pogba while he's in charge at the club.

The former United striker is set to recall the France international ahead of his first game against former club Cardiff, with Pogba having previously been an unused substitute for their last two games under Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer has experience of working with Pogba during his time as United's Under-23 coach, with the Norwegian looking to unlock the full potential of the club's record signing.

As quoted by The Mirror, he said: "He’s a World Cup winner. Paul is a terrific lad and when I had him as a kid he was always the happy-go-lucky lad.

"He hasn’t changed, personality-wise. He’s a better player, of course, and he’s one that I want to get the best out of. You have so many quality players that I want to get the best out of. He’s no different to anyone else in that respect."

United currently find themselves 11 points off fourth place in the Premier League, and are a further 11 points behind current leaders Liverpool following a difficult start to the season.

While Solskjaer admitted he has no control over what's happened during the five years since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, he revealed he is focussed on bringing back a feel-good factor at the club.

"It’s not down to me now to talk about the last five years [since Ferguson retired]," he added.

"It’s down to me to talk about the next five months and to towards getting us happy, getting us smiling, getting us winning games.

"We’re too far down the league. We’re not used to being sixth. We are used to challenging for the league. Of course, that’s maybe a step too far now, too many points back, but that’s where we have to aim and to look forward."
