‘IT JUST WASN'T UNITED'S DAY'

From The MEN:

‘WHAT a miss and what a mess! Poor Ryan Giggs is being made the scapegoat for Manchester United’s FA Cup exit, but let’s be honest, it just wasn’t Manchester United’s day.

I suppose if there had to be a turning point it was on the half hour when Ryan was clean through on goal.
David Seaman had made a hash of it, Sol Campbell was sitting on his backside and the Stretford End were sucking the ball into the net.

What happened next really looked like one of those clips from ‘A question of Sport’ as Ryan chipped the ball over the crossbar when it seemed easier to score.

Football being football, we all know what really did happen next. Arsenal went downfield won a free-kick by conning the referee and shot wide…well it would have been wide had the ball not struck David Beckham’s shoulder and spun into the net.

If your luck is in, ride it, and Arsenal certainly did that. They were better all round than United, and I bet Ryan had restless time last night after sleeping on the floor as you can guarantee he missed the bed!’
