IT WOULD BE RUUD

With all this week's speculation about Real and Chelsea being interested in Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Dutchman has claimed that he would never play for the rent boys.

"My current contract comes to an end on my 30th birthday, the 1st July 2006. I am happy to sign a new contract though. I will never, ever play for another English club. Once you have played for United, the rest don’t count anymore,"

"All I want to do is spend as much time of my career at United as possible before I eventually return home and bring the curtain down on my career at PSV. I have already brought a house back in the area because I know I will eventually end up back home."

And if that's not good enough to the ears he goes on:

"I am not just here to pull a shirt on, I am here because I want to be part of this great club even when I have eventually walked away," he says.

"I have never just wanted to be here, score goals and look at my bank account. I wanted to have a warm feeling for the club. I can’t just be cold and just think about the football business. If you want to become part of the history then you have to embrace history from the past.

"When I came to United I made a point of knowing everything about the club. I felt it was important not to be ignorant and when people talked to me about past greats I knew who they were.

"When I came here I grabbed every book and video I could get my hands on and made sure I knew my stuff. To be a legend, to be part of history, you must know about the past. And to achieve success you must learn to love the club you're with.

"You can only love a club if you know everything there is to know about that club. Yes, I have done my homework and I have talked to the many people that matter."
