Police will visit the dressing-rooms today

A police source said last night: "The players will be told by officers in no uncertain terms what is expected of them. Anything that could spark crowd trouble just will not be tolerated.

"It will be made very clear to them in the dressing-rooms well before the kick-off that they must behave and what their responsibilities are."

Ian Aspey, a spokesman for the police operation, said: "Historically there have been few problems with supporters at this fixture.

"But behaviour on the pitch can affect what happens in the stands. The referee will be visited before the game to confirm the players know this can be a volatile fixture."
