JOHN O'SHEA'S ‘A BIT GANGLY'

Last updated : 07 October 2002 By Editor

Alex Ferguson thinks O’Shea has a way to go but has no fears about his ability:

"I never have any worries about putting in O'Shea. He could be a really top player. He is still a bit gangly but he put on a great deal of muscle over the summer and looks like a player now."

Ferguson believes that O’Shea’s improvement is down to Larry’s influence: "Laurent has had an immense effect on him. John listens to him and learns."

O'Shea agrees: "When the manager signed Laurent, he took me to one side and just said, 'John keep watching him, you'll learn a lot and I have improved. Laurent's one of the best defenders I have seen."
