Brian Kerr revealed: "John had a scan today which revealed a small tear to his lower thigh muscle, just above the knee. As there is too little time for him to recover before Wednesday's game, he will not travel to Switzerland with the squad."
No mention of how long he is likely to be out for as yet but it could be a few weeks.
