Denis Irwin on Keane:

"If anybody can get him to play it would be Robbo. That is going to be top of the priority list for the new manager.

"He is going to inherit a really good squad but the icing on the cake would be for Keaney to play for Ireland again and I think everybody wants that.

"I don't know his own personal feelings on it. There was the disappointment of what happened with him in the summer and I have got a feeling that he would like to play again, just to put that to the back of people's minds and get on with it.

"The likes of Robbo, Peter Reid, Kevin Moran and Frank Stapleton have all been mentioned but it will be down to the FAI to go and speak to them all.

"Everybody wants Keaney back playing again. We all know what a good player he is and he is a major part of Ireland and the Ireland team and it would be instrumental for many manager who has a chance of getting the job that they will in fact ask Keaney to play.”
