A source close to the board told SunSport: "He has lost a lot of the players. Now there are members of the board who are seriously doubting him. The chairman, John Wardle, still remains supportive but he is fast becoming an isolated figure. Even he is beginning to wonder if it is time for a change.

Keegan has spent more than £50million on the team but last season the club flirted with relegation and finished just above the drop zone.
