KEEGAN UNDER PRESSURE

King Kev:

“If the club decide to do something about me after the run
of bad results, that’s their choice. I still believe in the
players and I think we have the quality to have a good
season.

“But we are now out of Europe and the Carling Cup. That is
desperately disappointing for everyone — including chairman
John Wardle, who has backed me. The reality is we should
have done better and haven’t, so I am under pressure.”

Keegan was particularly upset about going out of Europe. It
wasn’t a blow, it wasn’t a big blow. It wasn’t even a
gigantic blow. Yep, you guessed it:

“It was a massive blow. The fans felt despondent on the way
back from Poland but so did the players and the management
team. They know they let themselves down by not being able
to progress. But there is nothing dramatically wrong.”
