KEEPER RUMOURS

The Sunday Mirror's Brian McNally believes that United have targeted Middlesbrough's Mark Schwarzer. McNally is well connected in the North East but his comment may just be a punt pitched because Schwarzer's current contract expires next summer and he has yet to agree a new deal.

Meanwhile Barcelona are said to be interested in taking on Roy Carroll, this from The Mirror:

'BARCELONA and Everton are on the trail of Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll who has vowed to quit Old Trafford next summer. Despite reports suggesting the Northern Ireland keeper is waiting for a new contract offer I can reveal that United tabled a lucrative new deal last Christmas. But the contract remains unsigned - because Carroll wants assurances from Sir Alex Ferguson guaranteeing more first-team football.'
