LEEDS CONTINUE TO FALL APART

Ridsdale hits back at Venables’ claims that he isn’t running
the club properly by saying:

"The only area where I understand his point was he said he
didn't want to sell Jonathan. I object strongly if he said
he wasn't consulted,

"He was told on numerous occasions that might have to happen
if a bid of a certain magnitude came in and we didn't get
bids for other players.”

Speaking on Radio Aire, he had another criticism for the
players as well:

"This team has not been performing at a level I believe it
can given the quality players we've got, and it's the job of
the board and chairman to call it as I see it, and I don't
think Leeds United supporters want to see us losing as many
matches as they have done this season.”

New boss Peter Reid thinks that the players are feeling
sorry for themselves:

"There's been a lot of talk about Leeds' plight this season
with players going, and how difficult it is for them now,

"But I don't hold with that. They're paid to go out and play
football, what goes on in the boardroom or on the financial
side of the club is nothing to do with footballers.

"They are feeling sorry for themselves. I believe that, even
though it may seem harsh from me just arriving. They must
realise that.”
