LET'S SEE WHAT YOU COULD HAVE WON

Shearer has confirmed that he will quit football in 2005,
and his desperation to win another trophy before the end of
his career is evident. He blew that chance when he signed
for Newcastle:

“This will be my last contract. I don’t want these words to
come back and haunt me, but this is it for me.

“I want to go out at the top. It’s still my dream to win a
trophy at Newcastle — and now I’ve given myself another year
to do it. This is where I want to finish — and it confirms
to me I will.

“I feel good and I’m confident I can do another year. I have
this season and one more to win something here — that is
eight chances to win a trophy. And I’ll take any one of
those.”
