Ferguson has revealed that Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand and Nicky Butt might not have needed surgery as quickly as they had it, but he wanted them fully fit for the run-in.
"They could have struggled on perhaps having treatment every day, but we decided they should have the operations,it wasn't a gamble," he added.
