A 1-0 victory over Racing Strasbourg kept Lyon at the top of the French League table but they lost two key players to injury with team captain Claudio Cacapa and striker Sylvain Wiltord having to be replaced.

A goal midway through the second half from Pierre-Alain sealed the victory and extended Lyon's unbeaten run to 16 games.

Meanwhile Prague extended their lead at the top of their own league to seven points with a two nil home win over second placed Sigma Olomouc, with Sparta's goals coming from Petras and Zelenka.

Fenerbahce remain top of the Turkish league on goal difference despite slumping to their first defeat of the season. The Istanbul side lost 2-1 away in a poor local derby against Besiktas, all three goals came in the second half, van Hooijdonk scored Feberbahce's only goal from the penalty spot.
