Man Utd predicted lineup vs Atletico Madrid - Champions League

Manchester United host Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday night, looking to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for only the second time in eight seasons.

The last 16 tie is finely balance at 1-1 from the first leg in Madrid last month and it is sure to be a monumental battle.

Here is the United XI that Ralf Rangnick could pick...

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

David de Gea (GK) - Set to face his old club, having survived a Covid-19 scare at the weekend. Back to his best form.

Diogo Dalot (RB) - Aaron Wan-Bissaka was dropped after the derby, which could give the Portuguese his first European game since September.

Raphael Varane (CB) - His debut season in Manchester has been regrettably stop-start, but facing a familiar enemy could be a catalyst.

Harry Maguire (CB) - At this point it feels as though he is playing for his United career. This is another big test for him.

Alex Telles (LB) - Impressed on Saturday, while Luke Shaw is also still a doubt to return despite being able to train on Monday.

2. Midfielders

Fred (CM) - His energy and tenacity in winning the ball back and playing simple was key against Tottenham and he has to find that again here.

Paul Pogba (CM) - The Frenchman could drop back into a deeper central midfield role after playing further forward at the weekend.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - Expected to be back in the starting XI after resuming training on Monday.

3. Forwards

Anthony Elanga (RW) - The young Swede could replace Marcus Rashford, who is clearly not at his best after another sub-par display on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) - At his age, maybe the occasional break is actually more important than running himself into the ground. A hat-trick immediately after a short trip back home would attest to that.

Jadon Sancho (LW) - Beginning to look more and more like a player worth paying £73m for and is becoming an automatic starter as expected.
