Man Utd predicted lineup vs Everton - Premier League

Manchester United are back in action in the Premier League in Saturday's early kick-off when Everton are the visitors to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen his United side win only two of their last five games in all competitions in a busy few weeks since the September international break and will be hoping to sign off before the October internationals with a victory here.

Here's a look at the starting XI the United boss could pick...

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Everton - Premier League

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

David de Gea (GK): Made important saves against Villarreal and looks like he is getting closer to his former best with each passing game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB): Eligible to return after serving the first part of a two-match European ban in the Champions League in midweek.

Victor Lindelof (CB): Gets his first Premier League appearance since August as a result of Harry Maguire’s injury absence.

Raphael Varane (CB): Still getting to grips with the English game and will be disappointed United have only kept one clean sheet in all competitions since he made his debut.

Luke Shaw (LB): Could replace Wednesday night hero Alex Telles after overcoming a minor injury. His greater defensive discipline will be extremely useful against Everton’s wingers.

2. Midfielders

Scott McTominay (CM): Not glamorous but he gives United greater strength and solidity in midfield and the team missed him when he was out injured earlier in the season.

Paul Pogba (CM): The onus will be on United to break down what is likely to be a compact Everton team that will want to play on the counter attack. That means more creativity will be required than just plumping for ‘McFred’.

Bruno Fernandes (AM): Not at his best against Villarreal but still made an impact by providing the clever assist for Alex Telles’ excellent equaliser. Will still be keen to make amends for his late penalty miss against Aston Villa last weekend.

3. Forwards

Mason Greenwood (RW): Has started every Premier League game this season and has become an automatic name on the teamsheet, despite the £73m summer arrival of Jadon Sancho.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST): His name rang around Old Trafford at deafening volume on Wednesday night. Five goals in five games and a Premier League player of the month nomination in his first month back in England tells you all you need to know.

Jesse Lingard (LW): Hasn’t started a Premier League game for United since January 2020 but deserves that chance here after two huge contributions off the bench in each of the last two wins against West Ham and Villarreal.
