Man Utd's position on sale of Anthony Martial this summer

Manchester United have rebuffed late interest in French forward Anthony Martial.

Paris Saint-Germain, through intermediaries, had shown interest about a possible move for Martial and 90min understands that they were looking at options should Kylian Mbappe complete a move to Real Madrid. Martial was on their list of options along with Everton's Richarlison.

One of those involved in the talks was Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes, who informed United that a deal could be done on deadline day.

It is believed United discussed the possibility about letting him leave, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear he wanted him to stay.

A source close to Old Trafford told us: "Allowing Martial to leave is not something the manager wanted to do at this time, he is very happy with his forward options."

Martial has been involved in all three Premier League games so far this season, but has only started the draw at Southampton.

Martial has three years left on his current contract with United, but with Cristiano Ronaldo's signing and Mason Greenwood featuring heavily it remains to be seen how much action the former Monaco man will see.

United have also dismissed suggestions that Edinson Cavani was the subject of a shock deadline day bid from Barcelona.

The news of Cavani and Martial staying came on the same day as United confirmed the re-signing of Ronaldo - who has signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford after leaving Juventus.
