Manchester United Actively Looking for Buyers for Alexis Sánchez

Manchester United have begun searching for teams who would be prepared to sign Alexis Sánchez permanently this summer.

After an abysmal 18 months at Old Trafford, the winger was shipped out on loan to Inter, but with no option to buy in his contract, Sánchez's future remains up in the air.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously suggested that the forward could return to Old Trafford at the end of the season, telling a press conference: "Alexis will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong."

However, the Manchester Evening News state that the Chilean will be sold if a buyer can be found, and Solskjaer's words were likely to try and preserve some of Sánchez's value.

Solskjaer is understood to have decided last season that Sánchez would play no part in the club's future, but he wants to create the illusion that the 31-year-old could still have a place at Old Trafford, so as to give United more leverage in negotiations.

The hope was that Sánchez's form with Inter would attract interest from around the world, but that is yet to really happen.

Having battled injury, Sánchez has managed just 10 appearances all season. He has contributed just one goal and three assists and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes in any competition.

It is unclear whether Inter would want to sign him permanently, so that is why United have got a head start in their search for other options. They do not want to be stuck with Sánchez's £400,000-a-week contract any longer.

While United are unlikely to demand a large transfer fee, getting Sánchez's salary off the books would help clear space to sign the two forwards they want.

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish is on their radar and is thought to have already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, but United want to add even more creativity during the summer.
