Manchester United Determined to Keep Hold of Dean Henderson - Another Loan Move Likely

Manchester United are unlikely to allow Dean Henderson to depart the club permanently in the next transfer window, though they would sanction another loan move.

The 23-year-old has impressed at Sheffield United this season, conceding just 22 goals in 27 games to help the Blades mount a surprise bid for Europa League qualification. His save percentage of 0.758 also ranks as the fourth best in the Premier League, marginally better than seventh placed David de Gea.

His performances have unsurprisingly earned him attention from sides looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, with Chelsea and Juventus both sniffing around.

United are determined to ward off interest in the highly rated stopper, according to a report from ESPN. They will instead look to secure another loan move for Henderson and continue to draw up a long term plan for his future.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keeping faith in current stopper De Gea for the moment, who signed a new contract back in September. The Spaniard has endured a challenging campaign, making three errors that have led to goals. This comes after he made four similar mistakes during the 2018/2019 season.

Despite De Gea's shaky form, Henderson is not yet considered to be United's best option in goal and - as reported by 90min back in February - he could return to Bramall Lane next season. Sheffield United are not his only potential destination, with several other Premier League clubs also interested in signing him on loan.

There is still the possibility of Henderson departing United permanently, albeit with a buyback clause inserted into the deal. This would allow the Red Devils to keep a vested interest in his development.

Sheffield United would likely be interested in this arrangement as it would free them up to bolster their squad with more loan signings. Premier League sides currently restricted to just two loans from other teams in the division.
