Manchester United predicted lineup vs Norwich City - Premier League

Manchester United travel to Norwich City's Carrow Road on Saturday evening for Ralf Rangnick's first Premier League away game as manager.

The last permanent United boss to lose their first league match on the road was a certain Sir Alex Ferguson in 1986, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Oxford United. Rangnick had the luxury of resting the entire XI which started his first game at the helm for a Champions League dead rubber in midweek, perhaps hinting at who may make the trip to Norfolk.

Here's the refreshed lineup that Rangnick may turn to this weekend.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Norwich City - Premier League

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

David de Gea (GK) - In his four games since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tearfully departed De Gea has hit a glut of form, preventing four more goals than the average shot stopper to keep a pair of clean sheets (per FBref).

Diogo Dalot (RB) - Given the superior attacking threat he boasts over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dalot may be in line for a third consecutive Premier League start for the first time since April 2019.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - Up against the most anaemic attack in Europe's top five leagues this season (Norwich have scored just eight goals) Lindelof may not be overburdened on Saturday.

Harry Maguire (CB) - Few players will have benefited more from a midweek rest than Manchester United's overworked skipper.

Alex Telles (LB) - More than 50% of Manchester United's play against Crystal Palace was funnelled down the left back's flank, hinting at the influence he had on proceedings while stepping in for the recovering Luke Shaw.

2. Midfielders

Scott McTominay (DM) - Set for a role at the base of Rangnick's patented 4-2-2-2, the Scotland international has actually scored more goals for United across the past three seasons than Paul Pogba (12).

Fred (DM) - While his boundless energy off the ball has seen him tipped for good things under Rangnick, Fred can boast as many league goals as Lionel Messi and Harry Kane combined this season.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - No Premier League player has either taken or created a larger proportion of their team's shots this season than Fernandes (39%).

Jadon Sancho (AM) - The first assist Sancho registered in his landmark 2018/19 campaign came in the dying embers of Borussia Dortmund's opening day romp against Rangnick's RB Leipzig. Having seen his talent from the opposition dugout, the 63-year-old now has Sancho's skills at his disposal.

3. Forwards

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) - Manchester United's famed number seven applied more pressures in Rangnick's debut game (11) than he has all season (per FBref). For comparison, Ronaldo closed down his opponent just twice across 90 minutes in Solskjaer's final match at the helm.

Marcus Rashford (ST) - Across a pair of Premier League appearances against the Canaries, Rashford has directly contributed to a goal every 37 minutes.
