Manchester United Target James Maddison Insists He is 'Very, Very Happy' at Leicester

James Maddison has said he is 'very, very happy' at Leicester, dealing a blow to Manchester United fans' hopes of signing the midfielder.

It is no surprise that Maddison is content at the King Power Stadium, as he has enjoyed plenty of personal success since arriving at the club last summer.

The England international created more chances than any other player in Europe during his debut 2018/19 campaign and he has continued to impress more recently. This season, he has been ever-present for a Foxes team currently sat third in the Premier League, registering nine goals and three assists from midfield.

United have long been sniffing around the former Norwich man, though their hopes of tempting him away from Leicester were knocked by Maddison's revelation that he is loving life in the east Midlands.

"I feel right at home at Leicester. I feel like part of the furniture already and I love it here," he told LCFC TV"I love the lads, I love the fans, (we’ve got) a great manager, so I’m very, very happy."

"It's been brilliant," he added. "It’s gone better than I could ever have imagined to be honest. If I think back four years ago, I was on loan at Aberdeen from Norwich and now I’m playing every week in the Premier League and that’s all I always wanted to do.

"Sometimes stuff like this can make you really reflect and be proud of myself that I’ve got to this level and obviously look forward now."

These comments came after 90min learned earlier this month that Leicester are confident of tying down their star players to long term deals. Maddison was close to signing a new deal before Christmas, only for talks to breakdown.

The club believe this will not happen again, with Ben Chilwell, Caglar Soyuncu and Youri Tielemans also in line for contract extensions.
