The Red Devils ended up making no additions to their squad before Monday's deadline, though were linked to a host of names throughout the window.
RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara - who has worked with interim boss Ralf Rangnick in the past - was touted with a move to Old Trafford, while 90min reported that Man Utd were keen on Ruben Neves.
And Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his Here We Go podcast that United were offered the chance to sign Marseille man Kamara in recent days. However, they turned down this opportunity as they want to save money for their next permanent manager to spend in the summer transfer window.
Kamara, who is currently on the fringes of the France senior squad, is out of contract at the end of the current season and looks set to leave Marseille on a free transfer.
He has strongly been linked with a move to England in the past - Newcastle and Wolves have been touted with an interest in recent months.
Man Utd are currently fourth in the Premier League table and return to action on Friday night at home to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
