Manchester United will not go for fly-by-night Jose Mourinho

After picking up 49 trophies in 26 years, Sir Alex Ferguson is calling it a day ? but not before he has arguably the biggest say in who replaces him.

Who will follow Fergie is a question we?ve been asking for a number of years, but now it really is make your mind up time for the Manchester United hierarchy.

Former United players, such as Steve Bruce, Roy Keane and Paul Ince, are often touted as possible successors to the great man. Then there?s Giggs and Scholes!

Jose Mourinho has been in the frame for some time and there?s been a growing bond between Sir Alex and the current Real Madrid boss in recent years.

But, given Jose?s track record, is he guaranteed to stick around long enough to ensure the Fergie legacy lives on?

The more sensible money ? and there?s plenty going the bookies? way as we speak ? is on a man who has long been tipped to fill the Old Trafford hot seat. One day.

That day is just around the corner and, in a timely twist of fate, fellow Scot David Moyes? Everton contract is about to run out with little or no sign of him agreeing an extension.

Hence the reason the bookmakers have installed the Toffees boss as odds-on favourite for the job whilst Mourinho has drifted to 4/1 as a result of his continued links with Chelsea.

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp gets a mention, and former United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is widely quoted at 20/1. But the popular Norwegian is one for the future. Not now.

Put your money on Moyes.
