Manchester United have allowed Marcos Rojo to return to Argentina to prepare himself for a January exit from Old Trafford.
The defender has started just one Premier League game this season and has not even been part of the matchday squad for United's last eight matches in the competition, suggesting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have a place for him in the team.
He has now fully recovered from the muscle injury which initially sidelined him, but still has not been able to force his way back into Solskjaer's plans, and now the Manchester Evening News report that he is nearing the exit door.
Rojo will be allowed to leave if the club receive a satisfactory offer, and United are so confident of that happening that they have given him some time off to prepare himself for an imminent switch.
However, the only potential problem is Rojo's salary. The Argentine earns close to £160,000 a week at Old Trafford, and that figure was behind the collapse of his proposed loan move to Everton during the summer.
United were adamant that Rojo would only be allowed to leave on a permanent basis during the summer, but whether they would be prepared to accept a loan deal just to temporarily get him off their books remains to be seen.
