Ferguson:
"Watford make it a real battle.
"They're a handful, a really committed side, who never give you a minute. The touches-on create all sorts of mayhem behind you. We picked the right side but I was still looking for a better performance.
"You saw another side to us today.
"We realise we had to battle to win the points, and the players can take credit for that.
"We came to a difficult place, showed our mettle and got our rewards from it. The younger players are improving in the physical and mental side of the game."
About Ferdianand's injury:
"We think Rio might have a broken toe, so I don't think he will be joining up with England. We will send him for a scan in the morning."
Giggs:
"The goals have been shared around so far, and that's the really pleasing bit.
"I said at the start of the season that everyone's got to chip in with goals and that's been the case so far.
"I was pleased to score and secure the three points because Watford is a difficult place to come to. They get the ball forward early and make you defend as a team.
"We found it hard to get the ball down and play as well as we have done in the first couple of games. Instead, we had to fight, defend and concentrate at all times - the last ten minutes was heart-stopping stuff with the ball bouncing around in the box.
"It's games like today which stand you in good stead in the long run really. Not playing well but digging out a result.
"We'll need a big squad with games like Tottenham, Celtic and Arsenal coming up.
"We've got quality players to come in. Obviously Wayne and Scholesy but hopefully Gary and Gabi as well.
"We've made a great start and we've just got to kick on now.
"We're really focused this year and I think that's shown in the three games. Hopefully we'll come back and achieve the same results as we have so far."
Boothroyd:
"We didn't impose ourselves on the opposition today.
"We had chances without playing very well at all. But that's heartening in a way because there's so much more to come. We need to decide whether we're going to be a force in this League or lie down."
