SAF was pleased for Heinze, "Gaby is such a brave player, he is always capable of scoring from set pieces. He is prepared to put his head in and has got his reward."

Fergie was glad to see some goals coming from set pieces, and hopes that it’ll continue, “It is an area we can improve on. If we can get a reasonable return from set pieces it will make a big difference to our goal tally."

Reserve team boss Ricky Sbragia was happy to see Phil Bardsley do well, "I thought Phil did well last night after a shaky start. It's opportunities like that that he has to be taking. It's important that he learns from them, and that he knows he's not 'arrived' yet and there's still learning to be done."

With Gary Neville out for 5 weeks, Bardsley may end up playing again in the near future, "There's John O'Shea and Wes Brown, so the manager's got many options. Phil's been training with the first team from day one of pre-season, so there's definitely opportunities for him - it's just up to the manager to decide when the time comes for that.

"He gets on with things. He's a nice lad and mixes extremely well. His game's based on a lot of power and strength."
