MATES FOR LIFE

From MEN:

"I talk to a lot of the coaches abroad and they all regard him very highly, but Paul will be staying here," Ferguson said.

"He is a Manc. There has never been a problem with Paul Scholes, even if his contract was up in three months time we would not be panicking here because the boy has nailed his colours to the mast."

Ferguson is forecasting an Old Trafford future for the midfielder he says there is one club which might hold an attraction for him.

"There is a chance he might go to Oldham Athletic one day because he is a big Oldham fan," Ferguson quipped. "But he is not interested in going anywhere else and he still has four years left on his contract."

"Paul Scholes is now in his best form at the club. Apart from last season he has always had good seasons here. He has got 14 goals now and I think that tells you everything. I know there are certain types of goalscorers and who only score goals, whereas Paul is combining his great abilities to play in the game, take part in the build up, produce goals himself and score 14. We have got hopefully 20 odd games left in the season and I am sure he will get more."
